A design system rebuilt fast enough to keep up with an acquisition.

I joined Chorus.ai as a product designer specializing in design systems, tasked with rebuilding a component library that had fallen behind a fast-moving AI sales-intelligence product. The system I shipped standardized how Chorus built UI, and it was still holding up the week the company was acquired by ZoomInfo for $575M.

Challenge: Atoms and molecules only. Nothing else was documented.

Chorus's design system stopped at atoms and molecules: no templates, no cards, no complex components. The grid was used inconsistently across the product, and nothing was built with Auto Layout or Variants. That gap caused real UI and front-end miscommunication, constant back-and-forth over exact CSS values, and visible inconsistency across the product — and it made sprint planning across design and engineering a headache for PMs every cycle.

Approach: Four jobs to be done, scoped with PMs before touching Figma.

I partnered with PMs to define what was must-have versus nice-to-have, then scoped four jobs: update every component to modern Figma standards (Auto Layout, Variants), separate large molecules into sections by product feature, build a real grid system and templates, and redesign the right sidebar — one of the product's most reused surfaces. I followed Atomic Design Methodology throughout, so every new component inherited the same token and grid foundation instead of drifting on its own.

Solution: One Figma page per feature. One sidebar used everywhere.

I rebuilt the library with variants, tokens, and responsive grids, then reorganized it by feature — Recordings, Inbox, Meetings, Deals, Coaching, Analytics, Playlists — so any designer or engineer could find exactly the component they needed. The redesigned right sidebar was documented in context across Comments, Snippets, and Scorecards — surfaces reused on every call review in the product.

Outcome: Shipped the week Chorus was acquired for $575M.

ZoomInfo announced its acquisition of Chorus.ai on July 13, 2021 — an all-cash deal valued at $575M. Chorus held the largest patent portfolio in conversation intelligence; the rebuilt system became the foundation for merging Chorus and ZoomInfo's product surfaces across a combined org of 1,800+ employees.
